Education Counsellor की ‘Free सलाह’ के पीछे का खेल – Commission का चक्कर जानकर दंग रह जाएंगे

Admission season में हर तरफ education counsellors और consultants की भरमार हो जाती है। Free counselling का झांसा देकर students और parents को attract करते हैं। WhatsApp groups, Facebook ads, YouTube videos – हर जगह इनकी marketing दिखती है। “हम आपको best college दिलाएंगे”, “सिर्फ आपके भले के लिए सलाह देंगे” – ऐसे वादे करते हैं। लेकिन 2026 में यह जानना बेहद जरूरी है कि इस free advice के पीछे का असली खेल क्या है।
Reality यह है कि ज्यादातर education counsellors colleges से heavy commission लेते हैं। हर admission पर 10-30 percent तक commission मिलता है। अगर college की fees 2 lakh है तो counsellor को 20-60 thousand मिल जाते हैं। इसलिए वो आपको वही college recommend करते हैं जहां से उन्हें ज्यादा commission मिलता है, न कि जो आपके लिए actually best है। यह पूरा business model ही corrupt है।
कैसे काम करता है यह Scam
Education counsellors सबसे पहले students और parents का trust जीतते हैं। Free counselling sessions conduct करते हैं। Career guidance देते हैं। Aptitude tests लेते हैं। Detailed reports बनाते हैं। सब कुछ बहुत professional लगता है। Parents को लगता है कि ये genuine हैं और बच्चे की भलाई के लिए काम कर रहे हैं।
फिर college shortlisting शुरू होती है। यहां असली खेल शुरू होता है। जिन colleges से उन्हें tie-up है और जहां से commission मिलता है, वो colleges को top पर recommend करते हैं। Better colleges जो commission नहीं देते, उन्हें या तो mention नहीं करते या फिर उनके बारे में negative बातें बोलते हैं।
Pressure tactics use करते हैं। “Seats limited हैं”, “Last date आ रही है”, “यह college बहुत अच्छा है” – ऐसी बातें बोलकर quick decision लेने के लिए force करते हैं। Parents confusion में आ जाते हैं और counsellor की बात मान लेते हैं। Admission हो जाता है और counsellor को मोटा commission मिल जाता है।
Commission Structure कैसा होता है
Different colleges अलग-अलग commission rates offer करते हैं। Tier-3 private colleges सबसे ज्यादा commission देते हैं – 20-30 percent तक। क्योंकि उन्हें students की desperate need होती है। Tier-2 colleges 10-15 percent देते हैं। Top colleges commission नहीं देते क्योंकि उन्हें जरूरत नहीं होती।
Commission structure complex होता है। Base commission होता है per admission। फिर volume-based incentives होते हैं – 10 admissions पर bonus, 50 admissions पर extra bonus। कुछ colleges monthly targets देते हैं। Achieve करने पर foreign trips, gifts, cash rewards मिलते हैं। यह पूरा organized racket है।
Payment भी interesting है। कुछ colleges upfront payment करते हैं admission होते ही। कुछ installments में देते हैं। कुछ academic year end में देते हैं जब student dropout नहीं होता। Black money में transactions होते हैं। Tax evasion होता है। Completely unregulated industry है।
कैसे पहचानें Fake Counsellors को
अगर counsellor सिर्फ कुछ specific colleges recommend कर रहा है तो red flag है। Genuine counsellor आपको multiple options देगा – government colleges, top private colleges, tier-2 colleges – सब। लेकिन fake counsellor सिर्फ उन्हीं colleges को push करेगा जहां से commission मिलता है।
अगर counsellor pressure create कर रहा है quick decision लेने के लिए तो suspicious है। “Aaj hi admission करा दो”, “Kal tak seats भर जाएंगी” – ऐसी urgency fake होती है। Genuine counsellor आपको time देगा research करने के लिए, सोचने के लिए, compare करने के लिए।
अगर counsellor college के बारे में सिर्फ positive बातें बता रहा है और कोई negative नहीं तो problem है। Har college में कुछ न कुछ drawbacks होते हैं। Genuine counsellor balanced view देगा। Fake counsellor one-sided marketing करेगा।
अगर counsellor की fees structure clear नहीं है तो alert हो जाएं। “Free counselling” बोलकर बाद में hidden charges लगाते हैं। Application fees, documentation charges, follow-up charges – कुछ न कुछ निकाल लेते हैं। Transparency नहीं होती।

Rahul का case देखें। Delhi से था, engineering करना चाहता था। एक counsellor मिला जिसने बहुत अच्छी बातें कीं। Free में career counselling की। फिर Moradabad के एक private college को recommend किया। Bola कि placement 90 percent है, faculty excellent है। Rahul ने admission ले लिया। Reality में placement 30 percent थी, faculty average थी। 4 lakh fees waste हो गए।
